Tony Knotts was first elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2014. Member of the House until 2018.


Knotts was a member of the Environmental and Transportation Committee. He also served as a member of the Natural Resources, Agriculture & Open Space Subcommittee of the Environment and Transportation Committee.  Also, as a member of the Environmental and Transportation Committee, Knotts served as a member of the Local Government and Bi-County Issues of the Environment and Transportation Committee and Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.


His constituent area includes Camp Springs, Clinton, Forest Heights, Fort Washington, Suitland, Oxon Hill, and Accokeek.


As a former member of the Prince George's County Council (2002-2010), Council Member Knotts served over two-four year terms as the Eighth Councilmanic District representative.  He immediately assumed a leadership role as Council Vice-Chair for the 2003 Legislative Year. The following year, Council Member Knotts served as Chair of the Prince George’s County Council for the 2004 Legislative Year.

Knotts is a lifelong resident of Prince George's County.

He is married to Wanda Knotts and currently resides in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He is a graduate of Fairmount Heights High School, where he was a substitute teacher while pursuing a Masters's Degree. Knotts earned an Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and a Masters's Degree in Administrative Management from Bowie State University. He also holds a Masters's Degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Knotts worked for the (WSSC) Washington Suburban and Sanitary Commission], one of the largest public utilities in the nation, as a Budget Analyst, Minority Business Enterprise Officer and finally retiring as a Strategic Management Specialist.

Knotts has a long history of community service. He maintains membership in a host of citizen associations and an active membership in the Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, Maryland.


Knotts’ professional affiliations include the Coalition of Concerned Black Christian Men and the South County Economic Development Association among others. Council Member Knotts is a Vietnam War Veteran having served his country in the United States Marine Corps.


Knotts has embraced a recurring theme since taking office. "We will continue to make the right decisions for the right reasons to guide our County into the future. After all, it is all about the people."

Tony Knotts is a lifelong resident of Prince George's County. He is married to Wanda Knotts and currently resides in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Well known during his Council tenure for his innovative Team Builders 'jobs 
program and 'SAFE SUMMER' youth program, Tony Knotts seeks to continue to build on proven successes to help fully develop the talents of our youth.
